Gravid Female Wolf Spider - Gladicosa pulchra - female

Gravid Female Wolf Spider - Gladicosa pulchra - Female
Seneca, Oconee County, South Carolina, USA
February 5, 2017
This is a picture of the spider against a quarter to give an idea of size of adult female. I photographed her after catching her on a very cold night. She was the only spider out that night. Temp was hovering around 51 degrees F. I was surprised to see her. She was very sluggish and offered no resistance when I put her in the catch cup. I took her home and gave her a cricket and a place to lay her eggs in a warm environment. She still has not dropped a sac yet, but she is doing well.
