Leucania solita Walker, 1856
Explanation of Names
Leucania solita Walker, 1856 is treated as a full species in Troubridge (2020).
Medium sized, pale moth. Distinguished from other noctuids by its forwing pattern: a long dark dash delimited above by a white line, running from base to middle. (1) One source discussing the species in Mexico said that the color or the wings can vary considerably.
Easily confused with Leucania adjuta
. A hindwing view may be necessary for positive identification.
It is my observation, although nothing is mentioned in the identification of L. adjuta, is that L. adjuta usually has heavily tufted legs and L. humidicola does not. (Ann Hendrickson)
