Oh Jesus.... - Cimex lectularius

Oh Jesus.... - Cimex lectularius
Kuna, Ada County, Idaho, USA
February 17, 2017
My sister found this on a book while sitting on the bed, please for the love of god tell me that it's a bat bug and not a bed bug. :( I feel like if it were a bed bug we'd be seeing a lot more of them, and we'd all be covered in bites, which we are not.

this looks like a true bed bug to me from these pics

Yeah, unfortunately I'm almost certain...
That's it's a real bed bug. :( We are really hoping it was just a stray individual, and that we caught it early enough, otherwise we are in for a stressful few months probably...

I hate to say it
But it looks to me like Cimicidae. I'm not an expert, but I dealt with an infestation of these this past summer. Hoping and praying my ID is wrong... If it's not, hopefully you caught it early.

Definitely Cimicidae.
The question is whether it's a Bed Bug or a Bat Bug.

Can't see the necessary characteristics, unfortunately.

I can try to get a better picture...
Unfortunately it does not seem to have much hair, so it's looking like a bed bug to me. :( We haven't had any bites though, is it at all possible we have just one?

Every infestation has to start somewhere.
It's certainly possible that this is a stray picked up from some outside source. Fingers crossed!
