Hover Fly? - Merodon equestris - male

Hover Fly? - Merodon equestris - Male
Sitka County, Alaska, USA
February 21, 2017
Found in house - my guess is this is an early emerging fly that had been pupating in a potted plant which was outside last summer. Although this was photographed 21 February 2017, but I didn't include a date since it would seem to be a bit spurious (if my guesses are correct). 5mm squares

I posted this on iNaturalist here: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/5153200
