Hover Fly (Helophilina) - Eurimyia stipata

Hover Fly (Helophilina) - Eurimyia stipata
Kings County, Nova Scotia, Canada
June 20, 2015
The pterastigma points to Helophilus but the shape (not elongate) of the abdomen and the general pattern of the abdomen still says Parhelophilus to me.

Moved
Moved from subgenus Anasimyia.

Anasimyia lineatus ...female
DNA studies suggest Anasimyia lineatus comprises two species and what previously was Anasimyia lineatus found in Nova Scotia are certainly going to be Eurimyia stipata.

Thanks, Bill. Somewhat confusing but I get it now!

Moved
Moved from Syrphid Flies.

Lejops, sub-genus Anasimyia.
Lejops, sub-genus Anasimyia. Probably lineatus

Lejops
Thanks, Bill.

Moved for expert attention
Moved from Helophilus.

Looks more like Lejops to me:

The experts will be able to say for sure.

Syrphid
Yes, I looked at that but it doesn't have a yellow face. Unfortunately none of my photos show the hind femur clearly enough. Thanks for the comment, Ken.
