Soldier Beetle grub

Soldier Beetle grub
Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
March 21, 2005
Size: 15 mm
Found under a paver brick where several others were present.

Moved
Moved from Soldier Beetles.

move to cantharidae
please

Firefly larva.
The grub is almost certainly a larval firefly, family Lampyridae.

Not firefly larva
The cantharid larvae are characteristically velvety like this one. Lampyrid larvae have overlapping plates on their topsides and curl up like a pangolin or armadillo when threatened. btw, I'm posting a shot of lampyrid pupae. Check Lampyridae.
