Moved
Moved from Stiria.

Moved
to Stiria, where it looks most like consuela, but I don't know the genus, so....

Moved from ID Request.

Any chance...
that you could provide a location within the county?

Yes.
I encountered the specimen on the outside wall of one of the restrooms in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park. I photo'd another moth two days later on the 27th.

.
Genus Stiria I believe, Reminds me of this one but I am not from your area and have not seen it. Not an ID without confirmation. Hopefully Bob Biagi will chime in.

Gracias
Yes, looks close to Stiria intermix in my "Moths of Western NA" (Powell & Opler). First time I've seen one in my location.

I'll wait for confirmation.

Thanks,

Jack

.
I have Steria intermixa and it is very golden with dark brown points.

S. consuela
Yes. I think my specimen may be closer to Stiria consuela.

Jack

Definitely consuela! Nice fin
Definitely consuela! Nice find. Do you do any collecting at all? I'm interested in the DNA of this species and would love a specimen from this location!

Thanks Kevin
I am collecting only photographs and the occasional already dead specimen. I photographed 2 separate consuelas today. I did collect and pin one specimen 2 or 3 days ago because it was dead or moribund perhaps due to a spider bite? It was on the ground at the base of one of the park's restrooms. Spiders are abundant there.

If this specimen serves your purpose I would be glad to send it to you.

Jack

I can probably still get good
I can probably still get good DNA out of it! E-mail me at kevin.keegan@uconn.edu and we can iron out the logistics. Thanks!
