Size: 0.5mm long
On two occasions, this species was found in water under the ice at the edge of a fen. In each case it was associated with the aquatic liverwort Riccia fluitans.

Hydrozetes
It is a Hydrozetes (Hydrozetidae), recognizable in part because of the plastron along the perimeter of its dorsum. Hydrozetes feed on detritus, algae, and macrophytes, particularly Lemna. It's possible that they were eating the liverwort.

Thanks Heather you have a good eye! I've collected a tiny sample of the liverwort (Riccia) from this site on three occasions and each time there was one of these Hydrozetes in the mix.
