Orothrips? - Orothrips kelloggi

Orothrips? - Orothrips kelloggi
Mill Creek Campground, Mendocino NF, Colusa County, California, USA
February 27, 2017
Size: ca 2-3 mm
I beat several of these thrips from a flowering manzanita shrub.

Moved
Moved from Thrips.

Thanks Chris!

O. kelloggi
Broad-winged thrips with banded wings consisting of a dark median band and a dark band at the apex belong to this genus in California; O. kelloggi is associated with manzanitas while O. yosemitii seems to use other hosts. O. kelloggi also has antenna segment 2 entirely dark as in yours, while in O. yosemitii it is apically pale.
