Corimelaena incognata (McAtee & Malloch) - Corimelaena incognita - male

Corimelaena incognata (McAtee & Malloch) - Corimelaena incognita - Male
31.5401 N, 110.7314 W, Patagonia, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
July 19, 2016
Size: 2.9 mm
Collected in sweep sample of various plants on the roadside, but I have seen these in large numbers on ripening seedpods of Penstemon parryi.
Keyed out using 1933 revision by McAtee and Malloch. It was close between this species and C. cognata (indeed they were considered a single species up to M&M's revision), but the dorsal ridge of the genital cup seems closer to the description and figure for C. incognata. It's also similar to C. extensa, but is below the known size range (3.5-4 mm) for that species, besides differences in genital cup structure.
