Scopula - Scopula compensata

Scopula - Scopula compensata
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
March 3, 2017
Size: 20mm
Being rather inexperienced, I can only call this moth a Scopula. However, after reviewing Peter Homann's examples and comments for S. compensata in Tallahassee FL, I can see no reason that this example would not be another one. ID assistance needed.

These are difficult and I have trouble with this species here in Texas. Have not had one that I sent to BOLD identified, so cannot presume to place yours. However, I think your comparison to Peter's is valid and I would put it in my personal files as S. compensata.

Thanks Anne. There certainly are a lot of look-alikes in this complex. But, I do think the balance is in favor of compensata here. I have already labeled it as such in my notes. As always, thanks for the help!
