A nice surprise Saturday was this Luna moth. I had never seen one in that particular area before. It was trying to stay dry on a wet and windy Houston day under a clump of pine needles. This moth was the size of my hand and was constantly opening and closing its huge wings whenever the wind would get too strong. I had no idea what it was originally, but a quick search on BugGuide found me the ID.
