Chimarra (Curgia) texana Banks
I asked around and Ollie Flint recognized the color pattern. Great documentation of a rarely reported caddisfly! I have preserved specimens of this species, also from the Devil's River, which have none of the distinct coloration remaining that you have captured in your pic of the live specimen. Thanks.

I don't have that specimen, but saw and photo'd a second specimen on the night I saw this one. I'll try to catch the next one I see.

I collected a Chimarra texana on 22 March. I have it frozen. Let me see if i can't find a few more and I'll send them to you.

I was back out to this locality for two nights, but did not see any caddisflies. It was bright full mone and very windy at night, both conditions that seem to me to drop the number of insects coming in to light. I'll keep looking...
