I have been seeing a lot of these guys around lately. This is the least worn specimen I could find over the last week or so.

One or two?
The second shot looks like a different moth. If so, they should be un-linked.

Bob, sorry I put my comment on the wrong photo. I agree these do look different, but that species does look like this when the wings are spread. They are quite variable and sometimes hard to photograph. Do you have any other species suggestions? I was hoping you would comment on this one.

 
Maybe it was the flash?
They are filmed on different backgrounds. So I wasn't sure if they were two examples of the same species.
You have far more experience with these tricky ones. I would send them to you for the expert advice. :)

 
Abagrotis?
What do you guys think about Abagrotis sp.? There are quite a few species in the Southwest, but it looks a lot like the second photo.

Just my way of thinking, but it does not have enough definition in the ST area for me for Abagrotis.
