Unknown Bark Louse - Echmepteryx intermedia
Naples, Collier County, Florida, USA
March 4, 2015
Size: 1.5 mm
This louse was living in sand live oak leaf litter. Note the very intricate pattern of the head and the banding on the legs. Also note: the last photograph shows that the legs are covered in hairs.

You've done it again!
I think this is Echmepteryx youngi (Lepidopsocidae). I'll send to Dr. Mockford for confirmation. If confirmed, you have added a species to BugGuide!

Unbelievable!
Was this one named after you?

I looked up Mockford's 1974 paper...
and found that this species is named after Dr. Frank M. Young "who introduced me to the natural history of Florida". That was fun!

the ending of the epithet suggests that it refers to a man
[would be youngae otherwise]

I
should have remembered this. :)
