Psamatodes atrimacularia
is only known from the very southern tip of TX. Ferguson says that the more common and widespread
pallidata
cannot be separated by observable characteristics other than that the male antennae are pectinate for
pallidata
.
Edit - I made a mistake. Neither species is know from north of Cameron and Hidalgo counties and this matches the illustrations of
atrimacularia
better.

Apparent P. pallidata in Austin
I agree that this is either
atrimacularia
or
pallidata
. Note my
recent example
of a possible male
P. pallidata
in Austin ahowing the pectinate antennae:
