Sympistis bakeri -
Anycteola fotelloides
29.797438, -100.997888, Val Verde County, Texas, USA
March 8, 2017
Size: approx 1.0 cm body length
The focus is poor but the pattern is obvious and I'm hoping the moth can be identified. It flew before i could get a good shot.

Just sent this picture to Christian Schmidt at Nearctica to see if it might be a photo of the new species Fortamedia grandimacula.

I believe this is either Genus Oxycnemis or a newly named Genus and species Triocnemidini grandimacula. I cannot be sure of placement, so I am placing only to Family. See
Nearctica
and

Seems closer to Poole's Triocnemidini New Genus 1 new species 1
See
here
. Not perfect, but sounds a little closer to me. If only we could find an image...
Regardless, I think it's safe to move this image to either
Oxycnemis
or Triocnemidini for now.

Thank you Kyhl. I did not scroll down to the new species. Don't we still need to change the grandimacula page to reflect the Genus name?
The angle of the PM line toward the costa and the black dash in the ST area still bothers me. It reminded me more of Oxycnemis advena photos on BOLD, but it has two orbicular spots.

Noctuidae
Cucullinae I believe. I believe it is Genus Sympistis but not one I have seen. The closest thing I could find was
here
. Obviously not an ID, only a suggested consideration.
