Numbers
About 35 species in North America north of Mexico, with other species from Neotropics and Palearctic.
Distinction between some of the more closely related species is difficult, and it seems likely that at least a few of these may be only variants or subspecies of one-another.
Food
Larval hosts are varied, with a majority reported being Lamiaceae, Hydrophyllaceae, or woody Rosaceae.
