flushed as I approached it so photos are at a distance and not really crisp. Color on leading edge of frontwings, yet trailing edge appears whitish. Multiple photos re-cropped, slightly darkened and entered as new request for identification.

Day Emerald Moth
You can rule out the Wavy-lined Emerald Moth, Synchlora aerata, which have a white dorsal stripe on the abdomen.
Check out the fringe and also the leading edge on the wings below.
Mesothea incertata: The wing shape and also the all-green head and body rule out most other choices.

possible Way-lined Emerald Moth - edited
Bob,
Thanks for the information. I have spent several years learning and documenting the butterfly species of my region. Resources for moth identification are quite limited. I might need to try the local universities' library for reference/resources. Mark

Better Crops
Yes, please go and ask them about this species. I would like to know what they tell you. If you read the comment history on many of the images, they were not moved there, until an expert helped to define that species choice.
This might be a first for Ontario, on the BugGuide. The MPG range dots have a large splotch around northern Michigan.
