Velvet Mite - Leptus

Velvet Mite - Leptus
Searsmont, Waldo County, Maine, USA
July 24, 2014

If you see any more like this I would be interested in specimens. It is potentially a new species. Leptus in the northeast with patterns similar to this (e.g., 427267, 987505) typically don't have white markings connecting posteriorly, forming a white border, like this specimen. If you see more, especially if you collect a series of five or more specimens, then I can include the new species description my research on North American Leptus. Nice find!

Moved from true velvet mites.
