I think this is Peckhamia rather than Synageles but would appreciate confirmation/correction of that ID. Under the assumption that it was Peckhamia, I tried to take the either farther using the Peckham’s descriptions (1) but wasn’t able to convince myself of a species ID.

Hmm...

My gut agrees with your gut: Peckhamia. That being said, I've spent a lot of time trying to learn how to distinguish the two genera and still have issues doing so. I've only had personal experience with Synageles which doesn't help.

here's my [il]logic

The Cutler paper says “[Synageles has]…two pairs of ventral spines on leg I tibia (S. (G.) mexicanus has three pair)…” and “Most Peckhamia have three pairs of ventral spines on leg I tibia…” (1). Both the Cutler paper (1) and the Richman/Cutler/Hill list (2) put the range of S. mexicanus as Mexico and the American Southwest so that species can be excluded.

I uploaded a cropped version of the ventral image showing the undersides of the first tibiae. I see 3 ventral spines although I can’t convince myself that I see 3 pairs of spines. I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether this is enough to move the images to the genus level. Thanks again for the help.
