Eris floridana - male

Eris floridana - Male
Licking County, Ohio, USA
June 14, 2006
Size: 6mm
This one landed on me while I was mowing the lawn last year, just begging me to make him famous on BugGuide. Luckily I always keep a few empty 35mm film canisters in the mower for these occasions. Quiet little fella never even told me his name so I spent the last year trying to gather enough information to make an ID.

I'm sure he'd be proud to know he's the first confirmed male floridana on BugGuide. :-)

The Casting Cannister
So you promise to make them famous? Works for me, too, but I tell them I'm going to put them on a magazine cover, for example Spider GQ. Heh, heh.

LOL
I've gotten into the habit of shooting "cover comp" photos (vertical format, ample dead space for titles) for most of my subjects when it's convenient, probably the result of photographing so many perching birds over the years. Anyway, I got bored once last winter and threw together a fake magazine cover for one of these guys. "Arachnid Quarterly" or something silly like that. :-) I'll have to see if I can find it.

Is that an echo? No, another fresh LOL.
Would love to see it. Thoroughly enjoyed Pet Semitary. I would like to see (frassable?) humor more often at this site.
