Due to the nature of these two photos, I am going to leave them linked here, even though they represent two specimens.

This is the lectotype of Gorytodes uncanaria from "California"; a synonym of Plataea californiaria. Specimen resides at American Museum of Natural History.

How does this one compare to P. diva, out of interest?
Seems that one is similar, just paler, to these shown here.

Late reply for those looking in
I think they can look very similar, but in theory P. diva is an inland and southern species, while P. californiaria is central California coastal. To me some photographs of the two species look the same, and I doubt I could tell (at least some of) them appart reliably without locality information.

Range
Per Rindge (1976), the range of P. diva is southeastern OR and western NV east to Alameda Co., CA and south to Baja California, Mexico. The range map has it along the coast south of LA.
