Noticed while photographing aphids, the pointey end is where the aphids went in.

This looks to me like , but I'm not an expert, and maybe there are look-alikes. But the black "stubble" in the close-ups seems to match.

seems to be an appropriate choice.
A number of adults of this genus are common at this local.
Appreciate to suggestion.

Syrphid it shall be.
I tried to locate puparium without success. It would have been nice to rear the adults for ID. Maybe this year.
