I just want to know what the small objects are in front of the "neck" of the funnel. Are they seeds? Insect eggs? Did the spider place them there or did they end up there by accident?

Eggs?
Never did get any response on this, so I'll give my own 2 cents worth. I think they're some kind of insect eggs that fell down from the plants above the nest. In a couple of them you can see what looks like a hole. Maybe that's where the sperm enters. According to what I've read, an insect egg does have a hole for that purpose.

They could be the eggs of a scentless plant bug -- they look similar to another batch of eggs of that type from another post.

I suppose that's
possible. I thought we could let it hang around in case we ever figured it out. They do look like eggs.

Eggs
Ok. Thanks.

Do
you want to leave images here or move to an insect page?

They remind me of carpenterworm eggs, but just a guess.
A possibility (if they are in fact insect eggs) is they could have been from the spiders prey. Female moths and flesh flies, for example, often release eggs or maggots after being captured.

You can move them there.
You can even move them to frass, if you want.
