Catorhintha flava Fracker - Catorhintha flava - female

Catorhintha flava Fracker - Catorhintha flava - Female
northern Mexico
April 28, 2017
Size: 11.3 mm
Close-up of head. Note the short spine on the antennal tubercle, which projects forward and slightly down. The presence of this short spine distinguishes this species from C. texana and C. selector (both of which have no spine on the tubercle). C. apicalis also has a short spine, but it has dark spots on the femora and tibiae, whereas C. flava has unspotted legs (usually yellow, but mostly green in this specimen).
