Carpenter Ant?

Carpenter Ant?
La Honda, San Mateo County, California, USA
May 7, 2017
Size: 16mm long
Found in house. Put in container with dead spider. It climbed on spider and appeared to be biting/sucking it. Released outside and it climbed under a rock. Later on in photos, I noticed off-white cylindrical shapes that look like eggs in container.
