The tip of the abdomen is extended, because the rest of the abdomen is bloated with the fluid for the wings.

the abdomen's just expanded since she just emerged from her pupa
the wings will expand and the abdomen will get smaller

Thank you. I'm fully aware that she’d just emerged, and it was a pleasant surprise to find her. :) I'm just wondering what the small protrusion on the tip of the abdomen is?
