Wonderfully detailed images
Don't you just love those hunky back legs? (Once, I shot one kicking another wasp in the face.)

First One
This was the very first of these wasps that I've noticed. I would have loved to have taken the photo in nature, but it was about 100 degress outside wtih a heat index approaching 115. I couldn't see straight with all the sweat running down my face in my eyes. So... I managed to bring it home in a jar and then take a photo. Yes, I love the large muscular looking hind legs.

They must like heat.
Mine was shot on a hot day too, in the midst of a decaying cactus patch. I share your serious sweat-in-the-eyes problem, which has put an end to shoots more than once. These wasps certainly don't make things easy for us, which no doubt accounts for so few images.
