Peterson Field Guide fails again (sigh). Thanks for the ID. First record for MB on Bugguide. I had a sighting May 2016 but the pictures were even worse than these.

 
caution in ID
I am confident in the genus designation being Argyrotaenia; however, the species is somewhat suspect as A. repertana is identified in Manitoba and is similar to A. velutinana. I suspect that dissection is needed to make the identification to species level. I do not want to move the moth to species level until an expert is able to make a determination. With that said, I will move the moth to the genus level for now.

 
A. repertana
The Manitoba record for A. repertana is mine and that ID was not confirmed so perhaps I will start collecting specimens and bringing them to the local entomology department.
