Bumble Bee in Eastern Washington - Bombus nevadensis

Bumble Bee in Eastern Washington - Bombus nevadensis
West Richland, Benton County, Washington, USA
May 15, 2017
Size: large for a bumble bee
This bumble bee has been visiting my backyard flower garden daily for a couple of weeks. S/he seems unusually belligerent, frequently coming after me. I work around and photograph pollinators routinely without adverse interactions. This bee, however, has an attitude. Photos were taken of her/him feeding on sand dune penstemon (penstemon acuminatus), the only penstemon native to our area.
