Ground spider - Micaria medica - female

Ground spider - Micaria medica - Female
Pantex Plant, Carson County, Texas, USA
May 16, 2017
A specimen from the WTAMU collection captured in a pitfall trap between 25 July and 1 August 2000. Identified to genus with SONA and to species with Platnick & Shadab 1988.

This species is not present in Dean's catalog, which means it must be a new record for the state.

Moved
Moved from Micaria. As long as I was looking at your M. triangulosa, I thought I'd look at this one again. I remove my objections.

Hmm...
I'll admit that M. medica is pretty close. There are two things that hold me back. 1) This is a significant range expansion from what Platnick & Shadab delineated (Alberta, North Dakota, Colorado); all of these locations are much colder than Texas. 2) While the epigynum matches pretty well, both images you took have a division in the anterior pigmented areas (atria?) and I'm not sure what could account for that since I'm not looking at the specimen. Is that an artifact of the photography or is there a division there?

It is probably best to get some additional opinions before creating the page. Please see my comments on your Allocosa mulaiki specimen as well.
