Range
Peninsular Florida to MS and NC (much less commonly reported outside of FL)
Habitat
Has the most extensive distribution of any cicada in Florida and is found in all Florida ecoregions except the Everglades (Sanborn & Phillips 2013). Apparently most common in Scrub habitat, Pine flatwoods, open fields and roadsides.
Season
June-Sept
This cicada is an annual species with multiple overlapping generations.
Food
Often calls from trees but uses grasses as a host plant (Sanborn & Phillips 2013)
