These things were tearing me up that day! They were everywhere, especially along the edges of paths and open areas adjacent to the wooded areas. There are stables, housing horses, about two miles up the road from the park but not in the park. I suppose that they could have been content with just feeding on deer and humans(me). Deep Woods Off had little effect keeping them off me.
