I noted that a dorsal view of the abdomen might help with the species ID. I have added a specimen shot of this in case it may be useful.

I think this is reasonably sa
I think this is reasonably safe for Philonthus asper - the elytra don't seem quite bronze enough but that might just be the lighting.
