Golden tortoise beetle - Charidotella sexpunctata

Golden tortoise beetle - Charidotella sexpunctata
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
May 20, 2017
Ok, this is something I've never seen before. At first glance I thought it was a small ladybug on a maple leaf, but kind of on the thin side. Upon taking the first photo, I saw it had a clear membrane around it. It looked like it was encased in clear jelly or something. I took a few photos before it flew to a nearby pine tree, where I took a few more photos before it flew away altogether.
