Cecidomyia nyssaecola
Do you think this species could be the one Felt lists as "Cecidomyia nyssaecola"? Or is there potentially a third Nyssa edge roller out there?

You need to get your hands on a copy of Gagne (1989)...
Cartodiplosis nyssaecola (Beutenmueller) was originally believed to cause this gall, which is actually formed by Phylloxerina nyssae; C. nyssaecola is a predator on the phylloxerids (1).

I know!
I've been thinking that every day as I go through the Felt to populate my database. Practically all of the Cecidomyiids he lists have been renamed and google oftens fails to trace them to their new names. Any ideas? Should I contact him directly?

Worth a try
I don't know if he has any extra copies, but maybe he would have an idea about how to track one down. He's working on a revision that will be published online, but I don't know when that might be finished. For updated taxonomy, though, here's the place to go: https://www.ars.usda.gov/ARSUserFiles/80420580/Gagne_2017_World_Cat_4th_ed.pdf
