Review of my image indicates that the lateral appendages 4 through 12 are lateral filaments. There is no breathing tube present. This makes it a Dobsonfly, not a Fishfly. Review of BugGuide indicates the only Dobsonfly in Southern California is Corydalus texanus. See http://bugguide.net/node/view/4872

 
Locally known
The only Corylidae that I see in Hogue, Insects of the LA Basin is Neohermes filicornis. An internet search fails to produce an image of the larva
