Mimic Fly Spilomyia alcimus or texana? - Spilomyia alcimus - male

Mimic Fly Spilomyia alcimus or texana? - Spilomyia alcimus - Male
Rockvale, Rutherford County, Tennessee, USA
May 28, 2017

you can not see the spot on t
you can not see the spot on the propleuron, which presence/absence is distinguishing the two species, but from the distribution I would rather go with alcimus. Also texana is often more reddish, but there seem to be reddish alciumus as well.... so this is more gut feeling than an identification
