Interrupted Dagger (Acronicta interrupta) - Acronicta interrupta

Interrupted Dagger (Acronicta interrupta) - Acronicta interrupta
Buxton, Traill County, North Dakota, USA
May 26, 2017
This specimen may be an example of the Interrupted Dagger (Acronicta interrupta) 9237 caterpillers I found (2) on my crabapple tree July 8, 2016 and brought in to rear. On the 28th of July I added peat and both cats went under the soil. Today, a week later I opened the casing on the end and the larva has not pupated yet as you can see in this image. On MAY 25,2017 and MAY 27,2017 both moths emerged from both pupas. Both moths were released.
