Fly with Hairy Thorax - Ululodes macleayanus Grayson County, Texas, USA May 26, 2017
When I first saw this fly it was hanging parallel to the angled flower stem. It then bent its abdomen down as shown but kept its antennae and wings parallel. I watched it for more than twenty minutes as it curled and straightened its abdomen. I believe it's a fly of some type because of the large eyes meeting in the middle and what appears to be halteres. What struck me most of all was the hairy thorax and legs and the long antennae with disc ends. I wonder if it's some sort of Robber Fly.
