Palmodes with Altanticus prey - Palmodes dimidiatus - female

Palmodes with Altanticus prey - Palmodes dimidiatus - Female
Ladys Island, Beaufort County, South Carolina, USA
May 25, 2017
Size: About 1 inch
I watched this female wasp prepare burial site for several days, then she brought this Atlanticus sp to it. The prey is a Shield-backed katydid and the wasp most likely a Palmodes sp. Would like help in IDing species or other information about habits, etc. Thanks,

Wow, she has quite a load there! Most of the females in the subfamily Ammophilinae prey on caterpillars.

Thank you for your help, metr
