Landed on a black knapsack in the afternoon. Great Misery Island is several miles off the coast of Salem, Massachusetts.

I'm pretty sure it's a
c-nigrum
but I am not certain which; it seems like kind of a weird one as far as classifications go.

Thanks Katie. C-nigrum does look similar. But after searching the guide, this also appears to be very close:

hmmm...
indeed, that looks very close, perhaps closer (really hard to say), especially since it seems like the epaulette area is lighter on that one. Good searching...maybe someone more knowledgeable than I (which is most folks...I'm just very much a beginner) can confirm...
