Huntsville , Madison County, Alabama, USA
June 1, 2017
This insect landed on my breakfast bowl rather clumsily. I was able to move it with my spoon to our grassy backyard before it took off with a gust of wind.

I suspect you may live nearer to a stillwater (reservoir, lake, or pond) than you may suspect, as mayflies don't fly far (as winged adults) from the water where they spent nearly a full year maturing as a nymph.

Of course, another possibility could be a severe wind event in the last few days, which blew this mayfly more distant from its nymphal habitat.
