Braddock Heights, west of Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland, USA August 18, 2007 Size: 1 3/4" long
We found this beetle clinging to the plastic "rope" in the swimming lane of the public pool. He is a very large beetle - larger than anything we've seen around here before. We saved him from the pool, and brought him home alive. He's just a little smaller than a small hamster.
