Large milkweed bug in a real flap - Oncopeltus fasciatus

Large milkweed bug in a real flap - Oncopeltus fasciatus
Riley Wilderness Park, Coto De Caza, Orange County, California, USA
August 16, 2007
I love the way they look, wings up, but they're usually scurrying up or down a milkweed stalk at the time. This one posed briefly.

Great shot of
a behavior not easily 'frozen' on camera! I've seen it, but haven't managed to get a picture.

Thanks; it happened a bit oddly.
We probably have the same experience of them flapping while moving up and down a stalk. This one simply walked up, then started to flap the way a normal beetle would. Hope you get your shot! I've been trying to get one with a ladybird.
