Neoscona? - Araneus diadematus

Neoscona? - Araneus diadematus
Sacramento County, California, USA
June 4, 2017
Size: About 6 mm
Observed sitting in center of web for past two afternoons 5:00 to sundown (have not been around to confirm its activity in other time frames). The picture does not quite convey the red-gold color the spider has when viewed in real life. If this is Neoscona, any guess as to species?
