Comparison of McCullough Range Timema to Reference Figures: Ventral - Timema - female

Comparison of McCullough Range Timema to Reference Figures: Ventral - Timema - Female
McCullough Range, Pine Spring Rd, Clark County, Nevada, USA
May 14, 2017
This collage aligns Martin's ventral view photo of terminalia for a Nevada Timema specimen with figures for the female subgenital plate in T. coffmani (left) and T. nevadense (right), from the references Vickery & Sandoval(1999) and Vickery(1993), respectively.

I'd say the shape of the subgenital plate in the photo matches better with that of T. coffmani than with that of T. nevadense...but the fit isn't especially tight.

The locale where the specimen was collected lies between the known ranges of T. coffmani (in nw. AZ) and T. nevadense (in s. NV)...though it's much closer to the latter (and not separated from it by the Colorado River...a significant dispersal barrier for small, flightless Timema!).
