Ant?? - Alydus
Brighton, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada

Size: 1/2 inch +/-
When I photographed this insect I was sure it was an ant. Now I'm not so sure. The thorax section seems to have a shield and the abdomen looks as if there are 2 holes in it. Help with ID would be appreciated.
