cicada with two white rings - Diceroprocta cinctifera

cicada with two white rings - Diceroprocta cinctifera
McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
August 12, 2007
This has been one of the most common cicada species in the LRGV this summer. Looks like the white neck-band is present in several species of this genus; this one has a second band near the tip of the abdomen as well.

Moved from Diceroprocta. Thanks Andy!
